Junior Awards Fund Donations

Sons and Daughters of Oregon Pioneers has long had a program of Junior Contests and Awards for junior members of the organizations.  This includes an essay contest for older students and an artwork contest for younger members.  The SDOP Board of Directors would very much like to increase the number of awards given and to inflation-proof the amount of the awards.

The Board of Directors has, just this year, moved towards adding another essay contest that will be open to students throughout Oregon, regardless of membership status.

Oregon schools teach Oregon History during the Fourth Grade and we believe that an essay contest for these students will promote the primary mission of SDOP by encouraging an interest in Oregon history.  We also believe that such a contest could well lead to an increase in the membership rolls of SDOP as students research Oregon History and find that their families qualify to be included in our membership.

Beyond the actual award itself, funds will be necessary to promote and educate teachers throughout the State about this program.  Thank you, in advance, for your generous support of our Youth Programs!
